This review is going to be short and sweet. I feel shit this morning! Yesterday evening I took 150mg of Tramadol in a desperate attempt to cure my Rivotril withdrawal symptoms. Now I have a massive headache and feel nauseous. So that didn't work then!
Anyway back to topic. This book is delightfully written in a unique way. Short punchy, very very clever sentences. The writer is clearly a genius. Her descriptions of Newfoundland and the winter storms are breath-taking. The knot descriptions at the beginning of each chapter are a novel idea and well worked into the story.
The lead character Quoyle is ugly on the outside, but beautiful on the inside. A real gentle giant. His personality reminds me a bit of myself.
I rate this book 8/10. 10/10 for the writing but 6/10 for the story which lacks purpose somewhat.
