I have driven past this place before and never given it a second thought. And then it turns up at no.98 . Funny that! It's a little hard to find as it's on a lower level than the road : use your SatNav if you have one, or Google Maps to pinpoint it.
We didn't wait long when we arrived. They were fully booked but kindly gave us a table. I think this was influenced by the Japanese owner who recognized that there was another Asian in the house! I forgot a toilet review in the last place so I will make up for it now : The toilet was clean enough and spacious. The metal parts, such as pipes, were rusty and the window was cracked. 6/10 I have to say that during the course of the meal I was slightly put off by the sweaty Spanish waiter. I think that sweat stains on your shirt is not a good look for a waiter in a top resto!
I had the set lunch menu for 15 euros. Salmorejo to start. One word : Sensational. I've had a few of these over the years and it's a simple enough dish and this was the best. My partner ordered A la Carte. Tuna Tataki to start. She let me try some. Wow. Melt in your mouth good. There were some herbs on it I couldn't place but which really gave it a super flavour. For main course on the set menu I had a Thai Green Curry. I was expecting fireworks after the starter but it was rather plain and lacking in flavour. The eggplant was quite chewy. My partner had Korean BBQ with Kimchi rice. It was a kind of BBQ pork I think. She gave me some to taste and I thought it succulent and tender. Apparently it was authentic and 'quite good' overall. The wrong kind of knife though apparently! The set menu included a Pavlova for dessert. A really pleasant surprise. A perfect home made big Pavlova. Fantastic that it was included in a 15 euro set menu. Great value.
Overall I would give the food a 7.5/10. I would definitely visit again at €15 for lunch you can't go wrong really!
The ambience was pleasant. More dogs! What is it about restaurants in Spain and dogs? Or is it just me. The place was full of English people. They were a friendly bunch. So ambience gets 8/10.
