Resto no.93 : Gothan Grill Gourmet, Malaga

A strange name for a restaurant. Somehow I think they misspelled Gotham. It has a very dark theme, could be Batman.

The place is in a bit of a dodgy area. We had really dressed up nice for it! The photos on Google make it look posh, and it's got Gourmet in the name! But it is not posh at all. Not even fake posh really. The surrounding streets have a bit of a seedy feel.

The whole evening actually turned into a comedy of errors. We made a reservation without any problem and when we got there, a little after opening time , the place was deserted! There were some men in black wandering around, so I tried telling one about the damn reservation, but he just looked at me blankly and said that the kitchen doesn't open for another 12 minutes. LOL.

Another waiter then said we could sit anywhere we liked and have a drink. We chose a table and sat down, then we were told to move as we had sat at a table for 6 and we were only 3.

Then the next table was very wobbly. Incidentally, all the tables and chairs, were like outdoor cafe type furniture.

I have to say that all the waiters were very grumpy and surly. They did NOT look like they enjoyed working in this place at all. No idea why.

My partner ordered a steak while I ordered one of their famous burgers. However, steak was unavailable, as was anything that was not a burger! So it's basically a burger joint and that's it. Having said that the burgers were very good. They are very tall, they use a very good standard of beef, but they do fall apart somewhat. I only have one photo and it's a bit blurred as I couldn't hold my phone steadily during my second pint. I had the 'Harvey Dent' burger. Yes it is a Batman theme! All the burgers are named around Batman stuff. So they did misspell Gotham. Crazy!

The burger part of the menu is actually pretty extensive and the food gets 4/5. The service is appalling and gets 0/5.

The toilets were of a good standard, but rather flaking at the edges and ...one of my pet hates in a restaurant toilet - NO SOAP!!! Why does this happen so often, even when you are the first to arrive??!! It happened in Savor, San Pedro as well! So 2/5 (no soap)

Ambience was 0/5 to begin with, but when we left the place was buzzing, especially inside where they had a big screen TV with Barcelona playing I think and suddenly it was a sports bar! It was still quiet outside though. 3/5 for Ambience overall.

Will I ever return? NO!
