So this is the restaurant ranked 100 on the list. More famous for it's breakfasts, we however are doing lunches because it's easier with the kids! The restaurant is owned by an Indian man and his German wife as far as I can gather. Hence the menu is full of curries and German dishes! We were informed that the menu would be changing soon though.
We were served by the German lady throughout. I have to say she was excellent. Very relaxed and friendly and explained the menu well. I will give 9/10 for service overall. The restaurant is in a quiet area near the port (if you will go there park in the Supersol (it's free) and walk 5 mins to the resto), there were a few other diners giving a nice ambience (although it seems dogs are welcome, so be aware of that). Ambience gets a pleasant 8/10.
I am big on toilets, let me explain : I can almost always rate a restaurant on the quality of their toilets. I checked them out early on. The bad news is that they need an update. Almost every part was cracked. The good news was they smelled and looked clean.
Toilets 6/10. Let's see if the food matches .
We shared a starter of Haloumi Cheese (no idea - the German lady said it might be Greek so she also had no idea) with Zucchini. The cheese was barbecued and a little dry. Maybe that's how it was supposed to be. The courgette was perfect. Overall I would say it is a nice dish to share for a starter.
For the main course my partner had a Schnitzel. I thought well this is a half German restaurant so GOOD CHOICE. Problem is Schnitzels are all the same. Very boring. I know a Schnitzel expert and he is a VERY boring person (that's the kind of friends I have). This one was herbed up with some parsley, but guess what : very bland. At least it came with home cooked chops which were good.
Let's have some good news. I ordered ribs (comes with chips and coleslaw). Stunning. Historic. Very tasty and fell off the bone. When I have ribs in, for example, a Hard Rock Cafe, I always feel shit from the MSG or whatever they put in them to preserve them. No worries here. Genuine ribs, amazing. I would place these at no.2 of all the ribs I have had in the world. I won't tell you where the no.1 place is because there might be repercussions. I would travel 100 km for these ribs if I had a craving. That good.
Soooo.... for food I will give overall 8/10.
This is a very good resto, and if you ever find yourself stuck in Estepona (poor you) then at least this place will cheer you up a bit. Worth it's place in the top 100.
It seems they do not have their own website (which I am not surprised - it's a husband and wife team) but here is the link to their Facebook page :
Finally. I will give bonus points to any place that gives a free shot of Limoncello (or similar). This place did not give one, so zero on that front.
